Lesson summary

If a letter with a shadda or a permanent sukun comes after the madd letter, it is madd lazim.

How do I read it?

Hold the sound long, then say the letter with the shadda or sukun correctly.

Letters: Madd letter + shadda or sukun

Length: 4 elif (a relative length in Tedvîr recitation, not seconds)

Common mistake: Dropping the shadda.

  • It also happens in the letters at the start of some surahs, as in الٓمٓ.
